Through Projet AIDE, AED is improving the quality of in service teacher education through decentralized teacher education in schools, clusters and teacher resources centers. We are also revamping the education management information system and working with all levels of the system from the central Ministry to Districts to the schools to get education managers to use data for management and decision making. In addition AED is continuing to support the role played by parents and communities in improving quality of education at their childrens' schools and getting more girls to stay in school. The project will be making use of the EMIS data to use a state of the art school level planning techniques that utilize a school report card and school improvement planning approach - our approach builds on work in West Africa (Guinea and Benin). Our project is working in all 100 schools in Djibouti.
Our Projet AIDE team is focusing their efforts on strengthening systems and the capacity of the Ministry of Education to manage these reforms. Finally, AED is implementing innovative public and private partnerships that link non formal training programs to private sector firms who provide internships and on the job training for out of school youth, particularly girls. |
