Description

The Combating Child Labor Project, also known as KURET, effective September 2004 through August 2008, is a four-country project that provides educational alternatives to children, particularly those with HIV/AIDS, who are engaged in or exposed to exploitive child labor practices in four East African countries - Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and Ethiopia (KURET).  Children in many of these countries are even more vulnerable to the worst forms of child labor due to the impact of HIV/AIDS.  The project seeks to identify strategies that address both the impact of HIV/AIDS and challenges concerning child labor.  AED will lead the research, monitoring and evaluation and policy components of this project.
