PEDP II assisted the government with quality improvement strategies and interventions in primary education. The project's goals were: 1) to increase primary school access, participation and completion in accordance with government's EFA and other policy commitments; and 2) to improve the quality of student learning and performance outcomes.
AED and its consortium members carried out activities and achieved the outputs required under the following headings: Program Management; Education Policy, Planning and Policy; Financial Management and Budgeting; Procurement; Quality Primary Education Improvement; Education Management Information Systems (EMIS); Monitoring and Evaluation; Program Performance Auditing; and Gender.
Consultant services provided through Program Coordination Unit assured the effective function and operation of the Technical Support Teams working in each of the PEDP II components: 1) Quality improvement through organizational development and capacity building (TST 1); 2) Quality improvement in schools and classrooms (TST 2); 3) Quality improvement through infrastructure development (TST 3); 4) Improving and supporting equitable access to quality schooling (TST 4).
