MIDEH, or Mejorando el Impacto al Desempeño Estudiantil de Honduras, supports the goals of the Honduran Education for All (EFA)-Fast Track Initiative (FTI) and the Honduran Poverty Reduction Strategy (PRS), as part of the Educational Quality Improvement Program 2 (EQUIP2). The project strives to expand upon the foundation of EFA and improve the Honduran education system's effectiveness by securing the resources and creating the capacity necessary to ensure the sustainability of positive reforms. MIDEH is designed to assist in the reform of Honduran academic standards, as well as support and accurately measure the improvement of student achievement in Honduras according to the new educational priorities outlined by EFA, PRS, and the Secretariat of Education of Honduras.
The project's scope includes three primary programmatic components: Decentralized Technical Assistance and Training; Research on Alternative Education for Grades Seven through 12; and Civil Society Participation in Education. The core MIDEH team works closely with the Honduran Secretariat of Education, USAID/Honduras, and other donors to draw on the strengths of a variety of private sector firms, education officials, and local organizations. AED currently works with two local partners: the Association of National Scholarship Recipients for the Development of Honduras (ANEDH) and the Ricardo Ernesto Maduro Andreu Education Foundation (FEREMA).
